The Art of Micro-Branding: Why Our Eggs Smell Like Lavender and Mint

If you’ve picked up a carton of eggs from us at the salon recently, you probably noticed they don’t look—or smell—like anything you buy at the grocery store.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about a concept called micro-branding.
It’s the art of taking a tiny, everyday staple and infusing it with so much thought, beauty, and unique detail that it becomes an experience rather than just a product. For us, every single detail of our egg cartons tells the story of how we do things differently.
1. Breaking the Mold: The Square Carton
The first thing you’ll notice is the shape. We skipped the standard, long gray 12-pack rectangle you see in every supermarket aisle. Instead, we use unique, eco-friendly recycled square cartons. It instantly disrupts what people expect an egg carton to look like, signaling that what’s inside is something special.
2. A First Impression with a Story
Right on top of the box, we place our custom logo sticker featuring a hand-drawn sketch of our brand-new, mid-century modern henhouse and run combo. Before you even open the latch, you are seeing a literal illustration of the beautiful, safe palace our girls live in every single day. It’s a visual promise of the care that went into the eggs inside.
3. The Summer Sensory Experience: Lavender & Mint
Because it’s summer, we wanted to elevate our presentation even further. Right now, every single carton is hand-packed with fresh, organic sprigs of lavender and mint harvested straight from our garden beds.
This isn't just for aesthetics (though it looks stunning against our pastel green and peach eggs!). In the chicken world, lavender and mint are incredible natural tools. We use them in our coop nesting boxes to naturally repel insects, soothe our laying hens, and keep the coop smelling sweet. By adding them to your carton, we are bringing a literal piece of our happy hens' daily environment straight to your kitchen.
The Small Farm Advantage
Giant commercial egg facilities handle millions of eggs a day. They can never tuck fresh garden herbs into a carton, hand-stamp a lid, or tell you the names of the birds who laid them.
Micro-branding allows a tiny operation like ours to lean into what we do best: slow, mindful, hand-crafted care.
Next time you crack open a beautiful, rich yolk for breakfast, take a second to breathe in the scent of summer mint and lavender. You’re tasting the backyard difference!
